Appli Release for 2022-10-26 - marktalluto - 10-29-2022

Another Wednesday release is in the can. Your IDE will auto-update with all the new goodies. Your phones and tablets have a pending update waiting for you to download. We now have proper iPad support. Make sure you get that specific build for your iPad if you have previously installed the iPhone version.

-WHAT'S NEW?
The last time we spoke, I told you we were going to focus on making a bunch of useful templates. And so we are. While doing this, we occasionally see a bug or missing feature we need to make our template. We file the bug or request in our system. They get prioritized and completed within a day or two. The templates are shaping up. We can't wait to release them and get your feedback.

I know we said we were locking our features down. But, we had to apply some energy to our database side of Appli. After all, we are trying to bring databases to the masses. How can we say we are doing that without providing a way to see your tables? In our data section, we now provide a way for you to access any of your tables with a simple-to-use viewer.

The data viewer has all the features of its older cousin in the LiveCloud Manager. It uses all the technology found in our table element. It is the first time we have brought something from Appli to the LiveCode side of our development. This saved us a lot of time because the table element has many features that we just happened to need in our data viewer. This new feature will solve the need to use LCM to verify that your data is working as expected. And, you can check your local and cloud data with a simple button click.

Every update comes with some nice improvements and bug fixes. This release will not disappoint. We already have two full days of development completed for next Wednesday's release. Three more days remain before we push another update. Until then, please enjoy this latest version.

-MEET THE TEAM
We received a lot of positive feedback about our meet-the-team write-up in the last edition. We thought it would be fun to talk about the rest of our team, one person at a time. Everyone in our small group is interesting. It is impossible to pick. So I will go in alphabetical order by their first name. In this edition, we will talk about Debra Nameth.

Debra has been with Canela longer than any other employee. Debra wears a lot of hats. She is our office manager and keeps the ship well-lubricated. This job alone takes full advantage of her organizational and people skills.

Wait, she is our front-line tech support for 2020 Vision and NurseNotes. Over the years, she has become an expert in helping others with various technical issues. Debra has a way of making the most frustrated person feel at ease. She is patient because most of the time, the solution was to change the batteries in their remote control. Sometimes she needs to work with IT in the education or business setting. Her expertise with Mac and Win operating systems helps the less initiated deal with challenging details she easily eats for breakfast.

Or is she the one customers rely on when ordering more 2020 Vision or NurseNotes systems? Those particular products and their sales decisions are very relational in nature. She writes, updates, and generally maintains all of the contracts. She helps first-time users install the software. She points them to our documentation. She keeps our large audiometer fleet calibrated by managing the sea of shipments back and forth. Should a customer need more hardware, Debra has you covered.

Sometimes customers need new computers with the software pre-installed. Debra does that too. If you call our company phone number, she answers the phone. If you email for support, chances are she will get a response to them before anyone does.

She manages invoices, purchase orders, shipping, and receiving. Debra is better than a Swiss Army knife. She not only does it all, but she also does it well.
Plus, Debra is usually the only one that gets my quirky pop culture references.
